Video Hearings

There is a possibility that you will be scheduled for a video disability hearing rather than an in-person hearing. There are some disadvantages to video hearings, though, so let your Jacksonville Social Security disability lawyer know if you would prefer an in-person hearing.

Scheduling Issues
If you’ve been scheduled for a video hearing, you may want to request an in-person hearing instead. Unfortunately, you may lose the judge and date assigned when your hearing is rescheduled for an in-person hearing.

Logistical Issues
It can be difficult for your attorney to obtain the exhibit file with enough time to submit new evidence before your hearing. On the day of the hearing, your attorney will not be able to review the exhibit file since it will be with the judge. Your attorney will have to request that any new evidence submitted by SSA should be done in advance of the hearing so that he is able to review it.

Expert Witnesses
If an expert witness is to appear at your hearing, it will be up to the judge to decide whether he will be present via video.
